At 3:30 we were off to Wanaka Lake
View Holiday
Park . Mrs Norman went at
1;20 so she could cook tea for us.
We got there at 7:30, unpacked
the cars, found a room, [I roomed with Rhylee] and then we went and enjoyed
savaloys, lasange and sausage rolls, delicious. Bed time, that means brush your
teeth, say good night and jump in to bed.
6:00 wake up, so tired, yes
today’s the big day it’s skiing! Quick get dressed, and go to the kitchen to
get breakfast, mmmm Bacon, Eggs, Corn Flakes and Weet- Bix. In the cars and off
to the ski field.
Finally we are at the bottom of
the mountain, so scary but amazing at the same
time. We are half way up the mountain so we are getting excited even more than
we were. YES, we’re at the top of the mountain!
Jackets on, scarves on, gloves
on, glasses on, helmets on and wet weather pants on. Next we went to the room
where you get our skis from. We got our skis and poles and went to the sign
that had levels 1 to 4 and you went and stood in front of what level you
thought you were at. I was at level 3.
Level 3 kids went up the chair
lift with an instructor. Wow it is steep, here we go. Ahhhhhhh I’m going to
fall over, I turn sideways but I’m still going to crash. I’m over, on the
ground. I am back on my feet so I ski down the mountain.
When we got down the mountain I
went down a level, so I went on the magic carpet with Mrs Stirling. After I had
been on the magic carpet about 5 times I went down to see the learners that
were on the learners slope. But when Abby went down and ‘crash’ she fell over
and sprained her ankle. So we went inside and had some slices, sandwiches and
some bacon egg pie.
Out we go again, but Abby and I
don’t know where our skis are. Dad and Mrs Stirling found them. “Magic carpet
here we come.” Wow it’s really windy, I nearly got blown over on the escalator
because the escalator kept stopping and starting.
At lunch time we had some lunch,
but we weren’t allowed to go skiing again because it was so snowy. Back to the
room we go and hand in our skis and poles. Jackets off, scarves off, helmets
off, gloves off, glasses off and wet weather pants off.
We are in the cars and off down
the mountain. We stopped for a toilet break and we played on the play ground
and we had fish and chips too. We got home about 4:45.
I’m glad we went skiing because
it snowed and it was lots of fun!
