On Wednesday it was LMV Athletics day.Glenham, Tuturau, Edendale and Wyndham were competing.
My first event was long jump, my best jump was 2 meters 45cm. Then we went to 200m, in the heats I came 3 and in the final I came 4th. Then we were going to discus and I was atually surprised that I got it in the fan!!! After that we had high jump, I got up to 1 meter and some others got up to 1 meter 10cm. Then I did 100 meters and in the heats I came 3rd and in the finals I came 5th. Then it was the relays 'oh no' I was so nervous, Holly was the first runner, then me, then Chloe then Grace. After lunch we did shot put and I came about 6th or 5th.
After all my events I was puffed and I couldn't wait to go home to my cozy warm bed.

Monarch Butterfly
A monarch butterfly has two pairs of wings, each pair has two wings. On the butterfly's head it has two antenea. Under the dark colours they are lighter. The caterpillar is 55mm long. A monarch butterfly has a middle bit, they have 3 segments. On the monarch butterfly it has white dots and orange in the back round but it does have black lines and it has 1 black dot on each side. Before the caterpillar turns into a butterfly it has to turn into a chrysalis.

Sun Smart
Some
people like to get tans from the sun. If you’re not careful enough you can get
life threatening disease from it too.
The
sun can cause all sorts of things like melanomas or skin cancer. In the future you might have to get melanomas
cut out of your skin and the cancer can get into your blood stream and can spread
it and also kill you. The operation to get the melanomas and the cancer out of
you is not always nice and cannot always get it out of your system.
Sun
screen screens the sun from your body in and out of water only if its water proof.
To
protect your head from the sun you can wear a sun hat and it will stop your
head from getting burnt and your hair won’t get sun bleached.
Everybody
on earth should be sun smart so keep yourself safe when you’re in the sun.

Be Sun Smart
Be as safe as you
can in the sun because you don’t want to get skin cancer also known as melanoma.
If you wear sunscreen you won’t get sunburnt
or melanoma. Sunscreen is a thick protective layer from the sun. If you wear
sunscreen regularly you won’t get sunburnt and make sure you put water proof
sunscreen on when you’re swimming.
If you stay in
the shade more than the sun you won’t get sun stroke. Sun stroke is when you
get sick and vomit. If you drink lots of water you won’t get dehydrated.
Remember the sun can’t give you shade it can only make you overheat.
If you wear a hat
in the sun that covers your ears and neck you won’t get sunburnt. If you have
clothes that can cover your legs and arms I would recommend wearing them
because you need to cover as much as you can of your body so that your skin
won’t get sunburnt.
So now you know
about skin cancer/ Melanomas you will hopefully be sun smart.

Market Day
On Saturday 16th
November the leadership group had a community/family fun day
because we wanted to
raise money for the garden area.
We sold things like
kindling, baking, toffee apples plus more, and we even had a sausage
sizzle and a thrift shop.
It was good because we
made a lot of money and got good comments about us
Working.
We all had fun,(the
waterslide was fun as).
We learnt how to get
the right change and about selling people items.
We had fun throwing
sponges at people at the face splash.

Be smarter than the sun
We need to protect our wonderful skin from
life threatening diseases caused by the sun.
Too much time in the sun can be very
harmful. Too much time can get yourself sun burnt. You can get sun stroke too,
it is very harmful.
Make sure you are smart around the sun.
If you don’t protect your skin you might
get skin cancer or malenoma, making you very sick and sometimes ending in
death.
To protect ourselves from getting burnt use
sun screen at least twice a day if it is sunny.

Market Day
On Saturday the 16th
we had had our Family/community market fun day at Glenham School. In term 1 the leadership group decided to
have a Market day at the end of the year to raise money to upgrade our Garden
area.
There were six
stalls selling different stuff. Some of
the activities were a Bouncy Castle, waterslide and Face Splash. There were lots of food such as, Sausages,
American Hot Dogs and baking and lots of drinks.
It took about a
month and a half to organize the day. It
turned out great despite the weather.
A big thank you to
everyone who helped out, without your support the day wouldn’t of happened.
We really enjoyed
the day because it was very successful.
